Branning’s Princeton Auto Body, Princeton, NJ named Ecological Ambassador

Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) August 4, 2008

Some talk… some act… others lead. Branning’s Princeton Auto Body of Princeton has teamed up with AkzoNobel to become an environmental ambassador for the collision repair industry.

“Some things you do, not because you have to, but because you feel it is the right thing to do,” said Paul Branning, owner of Branning’s Princeton Auto Body. “We are concerned about the environment, and want to do our part as a business to protect the environment. It is important to us to set an example and lead the industry as an early adaptor of waterborne paint in our area. AkzoNobel’s Sikkens Autowave was the right product and now was the right time.”

California law makers are requiring all collision repair shops to implement waterborne paint technology by the end of 2009 and other states are also considering similar legislation. However, some businesses like Branning’s Princeton Auto Body are choosing to lead the way by making the switch to better products for a better tomorrow, today.

“It’s really a win-win situation,” Paul Branning said. “AkzoNobel’s Autowave is a superior paint product that is much more environmentally friendly. It contains less VOC emissions and therefore is less harmful to the environment. The product produces a beautiful, long lasting finish that our customers love and we feel better knowing we’re doing something good for the future of our environment.”

“It’s rewarding to see collision repair centers make pro-active choices. It’s not only a smart move for their business but also for their customers and the community,” said Tim Loden Director of Marketing for AkzoNobel Car Refinishes Americas. “AkzoNobel was a pioneer in waterborne technology with forward thinking shops in Europe and now we are fortunate to lead the way in North America.

A History of Richard, Duke of York in Ireland

A History of Richard, Duke of York in Ireland

Outside the Pale, Ireland was divided up into a plethora of individual supremacies some were loyal to the English Crown, some were not. The Gaelic chieftains directed their fiefdoms with little or no recognition of the English administration. Three great Anglo-Irish lordships, straddled the south of the country namely the Butler earldom of Ormond and the Fitzgerald earldoms of Desmond and Kildare. These earls were also caught up in the complexities of their Gaelic neighbours through a complicated system of alliances and antagonisms. In 1449, Richard, Duke of York arrived in Ireland, appointed as Lord Lieutenant. This was a convenient way of removing him from both England and France and prevented him from acquiring any office of major influence. He was well received by both the Anglo-Irish and the Gaelic Irish.

By the time of his departure in 1450, Richard had successively cemented the link between Ireland and the Yorkist cause. When the Yorkist forces were routed in 1459, Richard fled to Ireland where he was given sanctuary, indeed parliament declared that Ireland was bound only by laws passed by its own parliament. Ireland now recognised the rebellious Duke of York as opposed to supporting Henry VI. However, Richard was killed at the Battle of Wakefield in December 1460, his head was chopped off, crowned with a paper crown and set on the walls of York. However, within months the Yorkists triumphed with Richard’s son Edward IV ascending to the throne, therefore averting a fractious division between England and Ireland.

Tom Perriello: The Road to Sustainable Peace in Darfur

default Tom Perriello: The Road to Sustainable Peace in Darfur

During Tom Perriello’s 2005 visit to Sudan in the aftermath of 2004′s genocidal violence, Darfuris told him they would rather go back to war than accept a peace deal that continued their exploitation and marginalization. Yet the 2006 Darfur Peace Agreement monumentally failed to address critical issues of representation and access to resources. In this video, Perriello calls for a new peace agreement; urges external actors to help the rebels develop the requisite political leadership to strengthen their negotiating position; and promotes ICC indictments of Sudan’s leading genocidaires. Author Bio: Tom Perriello is co-founder of Res Publica and Avaaz. He previously served as Special Advisor to the Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, and as a Yale Law School/OSI Teaching Fellow in West Africa. He has worked for the US State Department, the International Centre for Transitional Justice and others on human rights and legal reform efforts in Afghanistan, Sudan, Kosovo, Argentina, Chile, India, and the United States. Perriello holds a BA in Humanities from Yale College and a JD from Yale Law School. On behalf of Res Publica’s Darfur initiative, darfurgenocide.org, Perriello visited Darfur for six weeks in 2005 and met with rebels and civilians to discuss prospects for peace.
