Berkeley Palmer Sees Green Jobs Growth for Those With the Right Skills

Green jobs are on the rise now and the trend is just getting started. According to Berkeley Palmer of Overland Park Kansas Green Jobs have the potential of trending up at a faster pace than any other job sector.
Berkeley Palmer says that virtually every current major industry has potential for creating new jobs within their own communities that never existed before. Construction, transportation, manufacturing, mining, agriculture, the emerging alternative fuels industries and many other industry sectors will be seeking professionals with a set of “Green Skills.” Everything from reducing pollution and creating more environmentally friendly business practices to emerging state and federal compliance of existing and soon to be created laws will help to create many new professional career options for those who get the right training and/or education now.
Berkeley Palmer says that the term “Green Skills” is widely used, but not well defined just yet. In a recent article from the Australian News: Pierre Malou, manager, environment and sustainability at Drake Executive (an Australian firm), says green skills — or green collar — careers in laymen’s terms are “the skills that help businesses fund, plan and manage everything to do with helping the company meet corporate or social responsibility around climate change”. So far that seems to be the best general description of what green skills are.
Berkeley Palmer research shows that green skills training is currently on the rise via special industry specific programs, such as the training provided by the Green Builders Council of DC, a coalition of builders and developers who are unveiling the nation’s first green collar job training curriculum for the Washington D.C area construction industry.
According to the spokesperson for Berkeley Palmer, those who are seeking to expand their skills base should stay within their current industry and get the industry specific training and education for the green skills they will need. When asked why not go to new industries the Berkeley Palmer spokesperson said, “When a job seeker is looking to make a career change they sometimes face an uphill battle. Attempting to change both function and industry at the same time creates an added degree of difficulty. The best way to make a change in both areas, it would be best to do that in a two or three step process, rather than attempt one big (and overwhelming) step.”

PRINCETON, N.J., August 18, 2000 — The New Jersey Association of Public Accountants (NJAPA) has endorsed Princeton Insurance as its preferred provider of professional liability coverage for its 700 members.
The endorsement by the NJAPA follows the launch of Princeton Insurance’s specialized coverage for public accountants and CPAs in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. With this product, Princeton becomes a major entrant among a small handful of insurers offering PA-specific programs in its marketplace.

Princeton’s PA and CPA programs offer limits from $ 100,000 up to $ 2 million for professional liability, with multiple tiers in between. More than 900 Special Olympic athletes vied for Northern California Championship titles June 7-8 during the 13th annual Summer Games at The University of California, Berkeley. The weather was perfect for the Games as athletes of all ages and abilities competed for gold in aquatics, bocce ball, tennis, track and field and volleyball. The Summer Games is the largest Special Olympics event held in Northern California each year, with more than 3,000 in attendance. All athletes returned home winners after a weekend of intense competition, fun and a chance to experience a little college life at The University of California, Berkeley. Traveling from 32 counties in Northern California, athletes had to qualify in regional competitions before being selected to represent their delegation at the Summer Games.
“The athletes are amazing, said Jenny Choo, directors of Summer Games for Special Olympics Northern California. “Everyone competed well, there were lots of smiling faces, and everything went smoothly in large part because of our many volunteers and the UC staff.”
The Games officially kicked off Friday night with an Opening Ceremony presented by AT&T that featured Country Vocalist Superstar Collin Raye, performing artist David Garibaldi, a parade of athletes, and a visit from Cal’s new men’s basketball coach Mike Montgomery.
Special Olympics athlete Titor Sandee from San Francisco had the honor of being the final torch bearer and lighting the caldron, as the games were declared “officially open” by John Panagakis who retired this year from 30-plus years of service as a Special Olympics coach and volunteer
Another highlight of the evening was the culmination of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. More than 500 law enforcement personnel ran the torch 738 miles in Northern California to its destination at UC Berkeley. They presented a check in the amount of $ 875,000 to Special Olympics Northern California CEO Rick Collett.
