Crime statistics don’t support rationale behind Arizona immigration law

“Border violence and crime due to illegal immigration are critically important issues to the people of our state,” Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said at the signing of the controversial bill, SB 1070. “There is no higher priority than protecting the citizens of Arizona. We cannot sacrifice our safety to the murderous greed of the drug cartels. We cannot stand idly by as drop houses, kidnappings and violence compromise our quality of life.”

Yet, a look at statistics from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency and the FBI indicate that both the number of illegal crossers and violent crime in general have actually decreased in the past several years.

According to FBI statistics, violent crimes reported in Arizona dropped by nearly 1,500 reported incidents between 2005 and 2008. Reported property crimes also fell, from about 287,000 reported incidents to 279,000 in the same period. These decreases are accentuated by the fact that Arizona’s population grew by 600,000 between 2005 and 2008.

According to the nonpartisan Immigration Policy Institute, proponents of the bill “overlook two salient points: Crime rates have already been falling in Arizona for years despite the presence of unauthorized immigrants, and a century’s worth of research has demonstrated that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes or be behind bars than the native-born.”

The “gifted” federal government is once again flexing their muscles – and taxpayer dollars will be used to increase federal power, instead of state power – in other words, you will get scre*ed.[1]

This is nothing new – will this intrusion on states rights go to court if this insult to free choice act passes? Of course EPA, and HUD would be involved – type these acronyms in the search box, then corruption. The feds have revealed their power and control plan with healthscare, and Arizona immigration law court cases, and some judges apparently fail to see the states are supposed to have rights before the feds, but the Constitution gets ignored.

The left has gotten in bed with radicals, and they will pay the price in November. Not all Republicans are supportive of individual rights, and they will also get voted out by people that want independence from excessive taxes, mandates, and non-sense schemes.

We have let the feds take control of banking, student loans, big private industry, and allowed corruption, because we’re more concerned about who’s got talent in America, than politics. We are currently paying for our mistakes; while some ridicule, and ostracize those that want to actually help America. The oblivious people, who refuse to be political, will ask what happened, when and if it finally occurs to them the feds have too much power – but never fear Obama (and his totalitarian administration) is here to set us straight, because us sick, twisted, freaks, have to learn 2+2=5.

We went to watch the Nationals vs the Arizona Diamondbacks game..Nats won finally..yes..but what stole the show were the protesters of the Arizona Immigration law..It’s like watching an action movie.. A man emerged from the left-field stands in the fifth inning and ran into short right field after Washington pitcher Stephen Strasburg …grounded out. As security guards were about to subdue the man, a woman ran onto the field from the right-field seats. The two ran around the field, meeting in deep right-centre, before they were caught by security. As they were being escorted from the field, a man and a woman holding a banner protesting the All-Star Game in Arizona ran into right field.
